Non-surgical facelift

The non-surgical facelift (liquid facelift) is a comprehensive facial rejuvenation strategy that avoids the use of surgery. Although the term implies a single treatment, it normally consists of a combination of different treatment modalities to address your concerns and deliver a fresh, rejuvenated complexion.

How does a non-surgical facelift work?

What is a non-surgical facelift?

A non-surgical facelift procedure is tailored to your individual needs and may involve a variety of techniques such as laser treatments, dermal fillers, and wrinkle relaxing injections. At our cosmetic clinic in Glasgow, we approach each treatment individually, creating bespoke facial rejuvenation solutions for each patient’s unique scenario.

Restoring Volume
Typically it will involve restoring volume and firmness to discrete areas of the face such as the temples, eyelids, cheeks, chin and jawline.

Muscle Relaxing
There will usually be an element of muscle relaxing injections to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as to create a lifting impact on key areas of the face.

Reducing Sagging
There is also usually an effort to reduce the appearance of lax skin, either by using threads to lift the skin or – more commonly now – to use radio frequency energy to tighten the skin on the lower face and neck.

Surface Rejuvenating
Finally, there is usually an element of skin surface rejuvenation using laser treatments to reduce signs of sun damage, pigmentation, or thread veins, and to improve the complexion.

What to Expect from a Non-Surgical Facelift

Non-Surgical Facelift Results

Here is an example of a lady in her early 50s who felt she was looking tired and decided to undergo a non-surgical facelift treatment.

For her treatment, she underwent a combination of muscle relaxing injections in her upper face, dermal fillers to her temples, cheeks, and chin, as well as skin tightening treatment to her neck.

The filler treatments, such as cheek filler, make a big difference in reducing the appearance of wrinkles and lines, which results in the face having a more soft and youthful look.

She is seen before her treatment and her results are shown 4 months after beginning the course of treatment. Overall she looks more youthful and healthy, without looking ‘done’.

Natural-looking results are the goal at our aesthetics clinic for all of our non-surgical facelift patients.

Common Questions

Does a Non-Surgical Facelift Give The Same Result As a Surgical Facelift?

A non-surgical facelift is a completely different treatment concept from a surgical facelift. A surgical facelift is designed to re-drape and remove sagging skin, whereas a non-surgical facelift is about improving the skin, which still lifts the facial aesthetic significantly.

Apart from this, the main difference between the two procedures is the downtime. With a surgical facelift, you will likely need a week off work, whereas with a non-surgical facelift you can usually go back to work the next day or, at most, after a weekend off.

If you are still unsure of which is the best option for you, contact us at our clinic to book a consultation for your facelift.

How long is the recovery time after a non-surgical facelift?

The recovery time after a non-surgical facelift typically varies depending on the individual and the specific procedure performed. However, on average, most individuals experience a relatively short recovery period of about 1 to 2 weeks. During this time, patients may experience some mild swelling, bruising, or redness in the treated areas, which gradually subsides over the course of a few days. It is important to follow post-procedure instructions provided by your healthcare professional and avoid strenuous activities or excessive sun exposure during the recovery period to ensure optimal healing.

How soon can I see results after a non-surgical facelift?

After undergoing a non-surgical facelift, you can typically expect to see noticeable results within a relatively short period of time. While individual experiences may vary, most individuals begin to see improvements in their appearance within 1-2 weeks following the procedure. This is due to the innovative combination of advanced technologies used during the non-surgical facelift, which work synergistically to stimulate collagen production and tighten the skin. As collagen continues to regenerate over time, the results become more pronounced, reaching their peak around 3-6 months post-treatment.

Can non-surgical facelifts tighten sagging skin?

Non-surgical facelifts have made significant advancements in recent years, allowing for effective and safe skin tightening without the need for invasive procedures. These modern non-surgical techniques utilise advanced technologies such as radiofrequency or ultrasound to stimulate collagen production and promote skin elasticity. By targeting the deeper layers of the skin, these treatments can effectively tighten sagging skin, resulting in a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. Additionally, non-surgical facelifts often involve the use of innovative skincare products and techniques that further enhance the tightening effects. With proper maintenance and regular sessions, individuals can achieve remarkable results without undergoing surgery.

How Long Do The Results of a Non-Surgical Facelift Last?

The results of the different components of the procedure will last varying lengths of time. Typically, the skin tightening and rejuvenation aspects (chemical peels, IPL) have the most long-lasting results, remaining improved for several years.

The effects of facial volumising will normally last a year or more, whilst muscle relaxing injections typically last a few months and normally need to be repeated 2 or 3 times per year.

We also choose to use hyaluronic acid (HA) instead of collagen for our dermal fillers as it provides longer-lasting results and has a much lower risk of allergic reactions.
