Breast Uplift Glasgow

Breast uplift surgery at McKeown Medical in Glasgow is designed to rejuvenate and reshape the breasts by lifting and tightening the surrounding skin and tissue. The procedure restores a firmer, more youthful contour without significantly changing breast volume, creating a naturally elevated and balanced silhouette that complements your body shape. By repositioning the nipple and reshaping the breast mound, breast uplift surgery helps to counteract the effects of ageing, weight changes or pregnancy, leaving the breasts looking refreshed, lifted and in harmony with your figure.

    BREAST UPLIFT SURGERY (MASTOPEXY)

For a breast lift in Glasgow with one of Scotland’s leading breast surgeons, book your breast uplift surgery at McKeown Medical.

Breast lift (technically known as a mastopexy operation) is a procedure that involves reshaping the whole breast mound and tightening the surrounding skin to make them firmer and give them a naturally youthful, lifted appearance without reducing the breast volume (breast tissue).

Mastopexy is suitable for patients who have experienced a loss of volume in their breast tissue due to weight loss, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or the natural ageing process. Breast uplift surgery improves the appearance of drooping breasts by restoring their pertness.

Our breast lift treatment is carried out under under deep sleep sedation, which means a faster recovery so you are fit to go home just an hour or so after your procedure.

Most patients recover from surgery quite quickly and are back to most normal activities within a couple of weeks, although it can take up to six weeks before you can return to more strenuous exercise.

    WHAT TO EXPECT

During your initial consultation for breast uplift surgery, our consultant plastic surgeon – Dr Kavita – will take the time to understand your goals in detail. She will want to understand the degree of lift you hope to achieve, your preferred breast shape, and the scar patterns you feel comfortable with. You’ll also have the opportunity to discuss with her whether you wish to maintain your existing volume or combine your uplift with an augmentation or reduction for enhanced results.

Kavita will assess your anatomy, explain the different surgical options, and provide honest, tailored advice on the best approach to achieve a natural, beautifully balanced result that meets your objectives. You’ll be encouraged to ask as many questions as you like — our team is here to ensure you feel fully informed and confident every step of the way.

Your mastopexy procedure will take place at McKeown Medical, one of the most luxurious clinical environments in Europe located on Bath Street in Glasgow. The procedure typically takes around three hours and is usually performed under deep sleep sedation.

Are you ready to start your consultation?

Finding the right treatment for you is the most important factor in ensuring that you are on the correct path to achieve the results you desire. Our pre-consultation form helps us to identify your needs and, ultimately, gets you on the right path to achieving your optimal results.

    Breast lift techniques

At McKeown Medical, your breast uplift is completely tailored to your anatomy and goals. During your consultation, Dr Kavita will assess your breast shape, nipple position and degree of skin laxity to determine the most appropriate lift technique. Depending on the level of correction required, this may involve a periareolar (donut) lift, a vertical (lollipop) lift, or an anchor lift.

Each approach reshapes the breast mound, removes excess skin and repositions the nipple–areola complex to a more youthful height, while preserving sensitivity and maintaining natural proportions. Kavita will explain the scar pattern associated with each technique and guide you toward the option that delivers the best balance of lift, shape and long-term results.

    Periareolar (Donut) Lift
A periareolar lift involves a discreet incision around the edge of the areola, allowing the surgeon to tighten the skin and subtly elevate the nipple. This technique is ideal for patients with mild drooping who want a small, natural lift with minimal scarring. Because the incision blends into the natural border of the areola, the resulting scar is usually well-concealed. This approach is best suited to those who are happy with their existing breast volume but would like improved shape and nipple position.

    Vertical (Lollipop) Lift
The vertical lift provides a more significant reshaping of the breast compared to a periareolar lift. It involves an incision around the areola and a straight line down to the breast fold, allowing the surgeon to remove more excess skin, reshape the internal breast tissue and reposition the nipple higher on the chest. This creates a perkier, more youthful breast shape while keeping scarring to a minimum. It’s ideal for women who want noticeable lifting and reshaping without the need for the full anchor pattern.

    Anchor (Inverted-T) Lift
The anchor lift combines incisions around the areola, vertically down the breast and along the breast fold. This technique is the most commonly performed because it offers the greatest degree of lift and reshaping, making it especially effective for patients with significant sagging, excess skin or changes following pregnancy or weight loss. The anchor lift allows precise control over breast contour and nipple position, helping restore fullness and a more defined silhouette. Although it involves more extensive scarring, these fade over time and are placed carefully to be discreet when healed.

Before & After: Following Breast Uplift Surgery

    Anaesthetic

At McKeown Medical, breast uplift surgery is performed under local anaesthetic with intravenous sedation, rather than a full general anaesthetic. This means you are comfortably asleep and completely unaware throughout the procedure, while breathing on your own without the need for a ventilator.

A dedicated Consultant Anaesthetist monitors you continuously, adjusting the sedation to ensure maximum comfort and safety. Because this is a lighter, more targeted approach to anaesthesia, patients typically experience a quicker recovery with fewer side effects such as grogginess or nausea. Most patients are alert and able to go home within around one hour of the procedure finishing, allowing for a smoother, more relaxed surgical experience overall.

    Recovery

Recovery after a breast uplift is generally smooth, particularly when performed under local anaesthetic with sedation. Most patients experience mild discomfort, tightness and swelling for the first few days, which is easily managed with simple pain relief. You can shower the day after surgery, and most return to desk-based work within a week.

Light activities are encouraged, but you’ll need to avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for around four to six weeks to allow the internal tissue to heal properly. You’ll wear a supportive post-surgical bra during this period to maintain the new shape and reduce swelling. Our team will see you for routine follow-up appointments to ensure your recovery is progressing as expected, and you’ll have direct access to the clinic should you have any questions at any point.

    Your Breast Uplift Surgery Journey

From your first enquiry to your final follow-up, your breast uplift journey at McKeown Medical is designed to be seamless, supportive and consultant-led. Here’s what to expect:

    1. Initial Enquiry & Patient Relationship Manager (PRM)
Your journey begins when you contact the clinic. You will be assigned a dedicated Patient Relationship Manager who becomes your point of contact throughout the entire process — answering questions, coordinating appointments and guiding you every step of the way.

    2. Consultation with the Surgeon
Your first consultation takes place with Dr Kavita Sharma, Consultant Plastic Surgeon. She will assess your anatomy, discuss your goals, and recommend the most suitable uplift technique. You’ll review expected results, scars, recovery and risks, with plenty of time to ask questions.

    3. Personalised Written Report
Following the consultation, you will receive a detailed written report summarising the recommended surgical plan, costs and what to expect from recovery — giving you everything you need to make an informed decision.

    4. Second Consultation (if required)
If you’d like more time to explore your options or refine details such as implant choice (if combined with augmentation), we can arrange a second consultation at no additional cost.

    5. Pre-Assessment
Before surgery, you will receive a pre-assessment phone call with our nursing team. We will review your medical history, medications and lifestyle factors to ensure you are fully prepared for surgery.

    6. Anaesthetic Planning
Our nurse discusses your medical information with our Consultant Anaesthetist, who may request additional investigations such as blood tests or ECGs if clinically indicated.

    7. Surgery Day
You’ll arrive at our clinic and be welcomed by your PRM and nursing team. Dr Kavita will review the surgical plan with you before marking up.

Your procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic with intravenous sedation, meaning you are asleep and unaware throughout while breathing on your own. A Consultant Anaesthetist remains with you from start to finish to ensure total comfort and safety.

    8. Same-Day Discharge
Because sedation has a faster recovery than full general anaesthesia, you’ll typically be able to go home around an hour after surgery ends. You will leave with a prescription for pain relief and antibiotics, along with a clear aftercare plan. You must have a responsible adult stay with you overnight.

    9. Post-Operative Support
You will receive a phone call from one of our nurses the day after surgery to check on your healing and answer questions.

    10. Follow-Up Appointments

1 week: nurse wound check and dressing review

6 weeks: follow-up with Dr Kavita to assess early results

12 weeks: final review to assess outcome and discuss long-term scar care

Additional appointments can be arranged at any time if you need reassurance — our team is always available.

Is Breast Uplift Surgery Right for Me?

A breast uplift may be right for you if you are unhappy with sagging, deflated or downward-pointing breasts and want to restore a firmer, more youthful shape. Many of our patients choose this procedure after pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss or natural ageing, when the breast skin and ligaments lose their elasticity.

You may be a good candidate if your nipples sit below the breast fold, if your breasts lack upper-pole fullness, or if you feel self-conscious without a bra. A breast uplift reshapes the existing breast tissue — it does not change breast volume, although it can be combined with implants or fat transfer if you would like fuller breasts. Ideal candidates are in good general health, at a stable weight, and have realistic expectations about scars and recovery.

Your consultation with Dr Kavita is the best way to explore whether a breast uplift will achieve the result you are looking for.

    Why choose us?

Choosing to undergo breast uplift surgery is a deeply personal decision — and the expertise and environment you choose matter. All procedures are performed within our purpose-built, five-star surgical facility in the heart of Glasgow. Your safety and comfort are prioritised throughout — sedation is delivered and monitored exclusively by a Consultant Anaesthetist, allowing you to sleep comfortably without the side effects of a full general anaesthetic. We keep caseloads intentionally low, ensuring you receive unhurried, personalised care from your dedicated Patient Relationship Manager, our nursing team and Dr Kavita herself.

We believe exceptional outcomes come from meticulous planning, honest communication and outstanding aftercare. From your first enquiry to your final follow-up, we are here to support you — with direct access to the clinic should you ever need us.
