Eyes & Lids

Described as the “windows to the soul”, the eyes convey much about our emotional state. Yet the eyes and lids are also one of the first areas to come under pressure, and therefore are quick to show the signs of early ageing. However, addressing these concerns, and maintaining long-term treatment, can effectively energise the eye area – and consequently the face. The trick is to identify the underlying cause of weakness, and prevent it.

Functionality of the eyes

Not only does the average person blink over 15,000 times per day, but the skin of the delicate eye area is also thinner than anywhere else on the body. As a result of constant expression and movement, fine lines can appear at the corners of the eyes – otherwise known as Crow’s Feet. The eye area is also home to a complex network of lymphatic vessels, which are responsible for carrying and draining excess fluid from the under-eye area. Poor lymphatic drainage can also therefore exacerbate under-eye puffiness and even lead to Dark Circles.

Prime position

The site that the eyes occupy – between the “upper third” and the “middle third” of the face – is also pivotal. Over time, and as a result of bone resorption, the brow can start to weigh down on the eyes, resulting in Heavy Upper Eyelids. Similarly, as volume loss begins to manifest in the mid-face and cheeks, the lower eyelids can be dragged down and acquire a sad appearance; while loss of natural volume in the tear trough region may result in hollowing and Under Eye Bags. Understanding the cause of ageing eyes is key in selecting the most optimal solution. Our doctor-led team has an extensive background in treating the eyes and lids and will work with you to achieve an outcome that leaves you looking thoroughly refreshed.
