Upper arms

As time goes by, the Upper Arm region becomes increasingly susceptible to unwanted fat. This is exacerbated by two factors: first, the underlying muscles – the triceps – which are frustratingly hard to tone; secondly; the overlying skin, which gradually becomes slack and less elastic. However, with an appropriate course of treatment, we can help to restore svelteness – not only slimming the upper arms, but also giving them a more sculpted appearance.

What can help?

CoolSculpting is an effective, non-surgical solution to improving the appearance of the Upper Arms. It works by freezing, and therefore destroying, the fat cells (a process referred to as apoptosis or “cell death”), which are then eliminated via the body’s lymphatic system – and once gone, the fat cells do not return.

Other options

If your main concern with the upper arm is skin quality – for example, crepe like skin texture – then skin tightening with the Sciton SkinTite device is a useful tool. SkinTite uses powerful pulsed light into the skin to stimulate collagen production and skin contracting. Typically a course of six treatments, each spaced two weeks apart, is enough to deliver a meaningful improvement in the wrinkling of the skin like in the patient example here, treated at McKeown Medical.

Are you ready to start your consultation?

Finding the right treatment for you is the most important factor in ensuring that you are on the correct path to achieve the results you desire. Our pre-consultation enquiry helps us to identify your needs and, ultimately, gets you on the right path to achieving your optimal results.

Common Questions

What are the benefits?

Our tailor-made CoolSculpting plans enable us to slim and shape the upper arms – and we use a variety of different-shaped applicators, which allow us to follow the body’s natural contours. Though the primary function of CoolSculpting is to refine the silhouette, it also has a mild skin tightening effect – a combination that also assists in lessening the appearance of slack tissue and “bingo wings”.

Which anaesthetic is used?

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive body contouring treatment, and therefore requires no anaesthetic. A cold gel pad will be applied to the area to be treated, ensuring that skin is protected from the extreme cold; however, once the treatment begins, the area quickly becomes numb – so any sensation is minimal.

What's the downtime?

There is very little downtime with CoolSculpting, and most patients are ready to resume their normal activities straight after treatment. Some might experience tingling, redness or slight bruising in the area treated; however, this is normal and usually subsides in the following weeks.

When will I see results?

The full effects of CoolSculpting take up to three months to be seen – the time taken for the body to eliminate the fat cells – however, some patients notice a reduction in stubborn fat pockets even sooner. While the fat cells cannot return to the treated area, it is important that you maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle – for a sustainable, and long-lasting result.
